The Great Daryl Nathan
Entered on: March 7, 2007 9:21 AM by Ross

I assume at least some of you, having tuned in to Public Access in Grand Rapids at some point, may have encountered a terrifically deluded  lounge-singer wannabe called The Great Daryl Nathan.  I know Swerb and I were particularly enamored of some of his horrific tunes.  Well, a friend of mine, who had never actually ever seen the show, just my descriptions of it, found his page on myspace and performances on youtube, so now I give you one of his most memorable (and by memorable, I mean you want to forget, but you can't).

It is kinda weird watching the Great Daryl Nathan again after all this time.  First, there is some sort of comfort factor, like eating some of my favorite dishes that Mom made.  I have seen quite a few of his absurd performances while in GR, and we always marveled in his ignorance.  But, now, seeing him on YouTube, you can tell he is master of the media.  YouTube is the perfect media for this dude.  Ok, it is very likely that one of his many fans posted him on YouTube.  Now there is that sense of familiarity, or dare I say pride too, that now I can say - I've seen that dude YEARS ago, he is from my home town!!!

YES he can with that hairdo!

We can say "we knew him before he was famous."

But did you check out his myspace page?  He has a shitload of friends.  This guy has hit critical mass!

I also love how the music doesn't change, even when he lifts up his arms.

At least this isn't one of his 28-minute epics.

I actually met the guy once. I do believe he's certifiably insane.
