The Bet
Entered on: July 23, 2007 10:18 AM by Radmobile
Jackzilla and I have made a bet involving the predicted success (or lack thereof) of the upcoming Bionic Woman series. I don't see see it as having much potential so I said it wouldn't last fourteen episodes. So the following bet was made. If it doesn't air 14 episodes on television Jack will have to watch the entire 22 episode run of "Earth 2," a harsh punishment to be sure. If more than 14 air I will watch a to be determined (by Jack) selection of comparable length of "Six Million Dollar Man" episodes. If exactly 14 episodes air we'll be even Steven and there will be no punishments.

How large was the initial order of episodes?  If less than 14, then it would tilt the odds in your favor, Rad.

As I mentioned earlier, I don't think Bionic Woman has much of a shot, being that the track record of female takeoffs of earlier male franchises in the sci-fi/comic book arena is so incredibly poor.  However, the only potentially redeeming quality of this show is that it's by the makers of Battlestar Galactica, who obviously take television quality seriously.  So I'm conflicted.

Regarding Earth 2, I watched that show for some reason, and it was stanky.  But it does have one redeeming quality: Rebecca Gayheart.  I actually think that was my main reason for sitting through so many of those episodes - just a glimpse of the chick I only knew as the Noxema Girl made it tolerable.  Of course now she languishes in relative obscurity, presumably due to some trouble with the law after hitting and killing a kid with her car.  On the plus side, I recently discovered some paparazzi-produced topless shots of her (Google for it).

From: Ross Entered on: July 23, 2007 10:45 AM
Yeah, I just found it: 13 episodes is the initial order.  So I think the smart money is on Rad.

From: Radmobile Entered on: July 23, 2007 11:39 AM
Sweet! I hadn't checked that before. I just made an off the cuff comment judging by roughly how many Firefly episodes there were. As far as Earth 2 goes....I watched a couple when they first aired and I liked it at the time (age 14/15). I just missed most of them so we aquired them in the past year and I have been having trouble watching through them..and I had fond memories of them. The part of the deal I like the best is that Jack is not allowed to subject Ange to the Earth 2. It'll only be cutting into his Gears time.

From: Ross Entered on: July 23, 2007 12:45 PM
How will you verify if Jack has seen the episodes?  Even if you ask for a synopsis of the episodes, he could be getting those off the net, don't you think?

From: Radmobile Entered on: July 23, 2007 12:56 PM
Not sure. I have recent knowledge of at least some of the episodes so I may ask some obscure questions. Plus I may need to have Ange make sure he's watching them, although if it's replacing Gears time she'll likely be in bed and not much help in this regard. Maybe when he's caught up to where I could hardly stomach them anymore I'll watch some with him. I know this would be punishing me too but I kind of had intentions of watching them anyway.

From: Jackzilla Entered on: July 23, 2007 1:31 PM

Rad beat me to posting about this sweet bet!

I like how I kept Ang out of this.  As I told Rad, there's no reason to bring her in and make her suffer should I lose.  This is just between the men.  Should I lose, my daily Earth 2 viewings will probably take place late before bed (presumably in place of my Gears of War playing).

I may regret this as I didn't know about the initial 13-episode order.  What if it's NOT cancelled, but only 13 air this season?  Does that count, Rad?  That would suck.

There's no reason this show can't be a bit of a hit though.  Female lead hero is a problem?  Come on!  It's not THAT unusual (Dark Angel, Wonder Woman, Alias, Buffy, Xena are some successful ones off the top of my head).  Viewers will turn in for nostalgia of the old series or just the kitsch value, and the winning team behind BSG will keep 'em!  Hopefully.

Hmmm... what season of Six Million Dollar Man should I pick for Rad?  Classics like Big Foot and the Space Probe?  Maybe the Seven Million Dollar Man appearance?  Or the original Bionic Woman eps?  Gotta love Lee Majors singing the love song to Jaime...  Laughing

From: Radmobile Entered on: July 23, 2007 1:58 PM
If the show is a success it will be picked up for more episodes eventually I assume.  You won't have to watch Earth 2 immediately after the 13th episode airs.  We'll give it a little while to hear if ther will be more.  I think the chances of 14 episodes exactly are slim to none though so one of us will suffer.

Of course, that's not what I said.  I said this one is a problem because:

...the track record of female takeoffs of earlier male franchises in the sci-fi/comic book arena is so incredibly poor.

So it's not because she's female, but because she's a female version of a prior male hero.  Now, I don't really take my own criticism too seriously in this case since the Six Million Dollar Man is such an ancient franchise that you could almost consider this a fresh re-imagining.  I just didn't want Zilla's misrepresentation of my position to go unchallenged.

From: Radmobile Entered on: July 23, 2007 3:54 PM

I'm thinking Zilla may need to prepare for some stank.  The more I think on this the more confident I am that I'll win....epecially after hearing the initial order was for 13 episodes.  Better get used to this face:

That's who you'll be spending your evenings with.

From: Ross Entered on: July 23, 2007 4:18 PM

Well, I wouldn't necessarily start counting your chickens - I think that's a fairly normal amount of episodes for a first season order.  Hell, even some fairly successful shows in later seasons start with a "half season" order, which is what 13 episodes is.  Zilla should start sweating it if after 5 or 6 (I'm mostly pulling that number out of my ass but it feels right) episodes the suits don't order more episodes to fill out the season.

I dunno, this one is a tough call, to be honest.

Almost?  This is a fresh re-imagining.  And with this series, she's not a rip-off of a male counterpart, so I don't think your argument holds, Raws.  I bet NBC does a lot of promotion on this (in hopes of grabbing that Heroes audience) and the quality of the series is really the only factor to take into account whether it lasts or not.  And that's unknown (but seems to be in good hands).

By the way Rad - It's cruel to taunt me with some wack Jim Henson creation!  Don't make me google some Mars Probe images from SMDM for you!

Read the first sentence of the Wikipedia Page for the Bionic Woman:

The Bionic Woman is a television series which spun off from The Six Million Dollar Man.

So this is a remake of a rip-off (or spin-off, if you like).  I will (and did) grant you that the original spin-off material is not currently popular and thus a weaker analogy, but again I wanted to clear up your misquoting of me.

You're right that the only thing that matters is the quality of the series, but my original point was that TV/film studios tend to pay less attention to quality when it's female spinoff movie/show and are often just looking for a quick buck.  But like I said, the more I say it in this case, the less compelling the argument is.

From: Jackzilla Entered on: July 23, 2007 5:23 PM

The Bionic Woman (original) is a spin-off.

Bionic Woman (new series) is not.

That's my only point.

Who wants to have a Earth 2 party?

From: Ross Entered on: July 23, 2007 5:42 PM
Okay, so it's a remake of a spinoff.  Is that better or worse than simply a spinoff?  You decide.

From: Bunky Entered on: July 24, 2007 9:56 PM

Zilla, I am disappointed that you did not include Gears of War online play time in Rad's punishment. We could have subjected him to many "just one more" nights.... In addition, you would have someone new to steal kills from.

I should probably check and see if CORNHOLEO is available should you lose and we need a replacement.

Oh, and "F the Bone!"

From: Jackzilla Entered on: July 25, 2007 8:05 AM

Hey!  It's Bunky from Xbox Live!  I see that Raws has poisoned you too - making you believe that I'm a kill stealer.  I prefer the term "team player" thankyouverymuch.

From: Ross Entered on: July 25, 2007 8:48 AM

Yes, this brand of Zillaspeak is typical - isn't that how Hitler came to power?  Making people believe what he was doing was actually good as he was conquering people?

By the way, Bunky was (correctly) identifying you as a kill stealer without my help - I don't think I ever articulated the fact, I've come to accept it as a harsh reality of life by now.

Dude!  You went on for 20 minutes when I killed one of your downs!  This, in a game with 5 sec respawn if they're not killed (Of course I'm gonna help eliminate 'em!).  You blabbered on so much I couldn't even get a word in to defend my "team support" actions:  It was the equivalent of you covering your ears and screaming "LA-LA-LA!"

Of course whether that can be construed as "articulate" is another matter.  Laughing

I like how Bunky is proper enough to not spell out the entire F the Bone. At any rate, I'll be in GR this December which means I'm going to have to buy a 360 and get up to speed on Gears of War. I don't want to go in cold, never having played, and lose my ass to everyone except Raws.

From: Bunky Entered on: July 25, 2007 12:17 PM

I have been told the "Legend of the Bone." I feel it is in my best interest to be proper, and distance myself from your mystical powers. It is well known that women tend to drop their clothes at the mere sight of you and "put their butt in the air." Why just looking at your photo makes me want to rip my shirt off...

I have Cottonelle wipes and a shower in all 3 of my bathrooms. I have been informed that is one of your weaknesses. It is probably best for all, that we keep our distance. I am glad to hear you will be in the states in December, as I will be in Hawaii. I am sure Zilla will properly welcome you and your ass to XBOX Live.

I do recall Ross having several downs the other night... not sure about kills.

I remember at one point, taking the total number of Ross' downs, subtracting his number of kills, and the remaining number was close or equal to that of a "team player" that shall remain unnamed....

Watched Bionic Woman last night.  Not bad, there's potential here.  I think the first episode that airs will be a little different as I'd heard they took out her deaf sister from the story (yet she's still here in the pilot that's circulating).  That's good, the deaf sister is definitely annoying (it's not the deaf part that's annoying, by the way, she's just ugly and obnoxious).

My main criticism would be that she becomes bionic too quickly.  Her crippling accident happens within 10 minutes of the story, and she's kicking ass by the end of the hour.  So the origin story feels a bit rushed.  Is the leading lady hot enough alone to keep Rad's attention?  Probably not.  But I'd say it's as good as the first episode of Heroes.

I'm feeling better about The Bet.

I asked Zilla the same question....It actually scared me too! I have long hair, so I thought it would be easier using a photo with it up. Hopefully my head will shrink over time....

From: BigFatty Entered on: July 29, 2007 4:18 PM
I'm not sure what shampoo you are using that promises to shrink your head, but I'd shy away from it if I were you.  You'd think that Pert Plus would be good enough - it is indorsed by Jackassery you know.  It has shampoo AND conditioner.  The 'Plus' part is still a mystery to us.  If you find out what it is, please tell us.  I only know of one way to shrink your head, but it sounds painful.  It involves peeling the skin from your skull and putting it around a smaller object, then boiling it.  This might be too drastic for you.  A haircut might suffice.

BigFatty- Thanks for the feedback. I tend to be scared of most products endorsed by Jackassery. I know far more about the fiber needs and recommendations for a good "Colon Blow" from members of this site, than I know from my own family.

I am sad to report that husband does have a man bag. I know that will make some of you proud. He also buys Cottonelle wipes in bulk at Costco, which should score me some points as well....

My favorite entry to date is the extended work out discussion, with a big shout out to Ross for adding his weight gain graph. I lost 5 lbs. just from laughing. I also missed one of my appointements with my personal trainer, because I spent too much time reading all of the entires.....

As for the hair/big head issue, I am hoping Ross hooks me up with some photoshop magic. He can trim off a liitle of the hair or just shrink me. The procedure referenced above seems like too much work....

I didn't attend barber college - I can't change people's hairdos.  Besides, Jack is much better at photoshopping than me, and he's the one that cut your head out to begin with.  All I did was throw it into the site.  Besides, I kind of agree with Bone, the hairdo gives you character.

Bionic Woman, Caveman Tops in Viewer Buzz

This bet is looking better for me all the time.  This, plus I just got my new Official Xbox Mag and there's a full-page ad for BW in there!

Rad - You better free up some time for some vintage 70's TV! :)

From: Radmobile Entered on: August 17, 2007 7:43 AM
Really?!? I should be worried because BW is generating as much buzz as the show inspired by a Geiko comercial? Ninja please...tell all your Gears Buddies you'll be gone for a while as you have to watch some stank. I may take your place when you're gone, just to spite you.

From: Jackzilla Entered on: August 20, 2007 6:38 PM

Rad - Did you enjoy the BIONIC WOMAN commercial before the movie this weekend?  Geesh, sure would be a shame if they cancelled the series given all the hype NBC is giving it...

:)

From: Radmobile Entered on: August 23, 2007 7:36 AM
That would be a shame.  It's too bad they have to hype things that are doomed to failure.  All feelings about the bet aside, I still thought it looked turdy.  Production values look high, but it doesn't seem like the type of thing that will  keep people's interest very long.

From: NickNick Entered on: August 23, 2007 8:01 AM
Remember Josh.  Keep this in the back of your mind.  No one thought Heroes was going to do that good either.  The public is ready for way out fiction.  Even if it might be crappy.

From: Ross Entered on: August 23, 2007 11:07 AM

I would hardly call the bionic man/woman "way out fiction" - cyborgs are pretty run-of-the-mill, even for non-sci-fi fans.

As for the series' longevity, I'd say it's still very much up in the air - the pilot alone doesn't give me enough feel for what the overall feel of the show will be like.  They could make it pretty sweet, with the bionic beyotch squaring off against her arch-nemesis Starbuck every now and again, like a Batman/Joker kind of thing, but there needs to be more to it than that.  I'll say that her origin of a loser bartender left a lot to be desired.  For the show to have any legs, you have to care about the characters, and she's completely flat and uninteresting in that first show.  So they've got some work to do, in my not-so-humble opinion.

From: Ross Entered on: August 26, 2007 11:40 AM

Here's what the Chicago Tribune has to say about the Bionic Woman:

This remake of the '70s series has a couple of big things going for it: Name recognition and Katee Sackhoff as Sarah Corvus, the nemesis of newly created "Bionic Woman" Jamie Sommers (Michelle Ryan).  The rest of the show (so far) is an exercise in mediocrity, despite the presence of stellar supporting cast members such as Mark Sheppard and Miguel Ferrer, who do the best they can with a subpar pilot script.

RATING: BLAH

That's the funniest (and truest) fucking thing I've ever heard you say, Jack.  Awesome.

As for Dark Angel, I agree with Rad: Johnnybells used to talk it up all the time to me and I thought it was just because he wanted a little Alba-core tuna, ifyouknowwhatimean... and at the time, I didn't care for her much, her extra-sassy style turned me off.  Anyway, he forced me to watch it, and I ended up liking it despite Jessica Alba (and developing a slight amount of respect for her along the way).

Anyway, by the look of it, Bionic Woman is going to be struggling to be as good as Dark Angel, and it doesn't even have the hottie quotient.

I mean, come on Zilla.  Big Brother has gone 8 seasons?

Just watched the pilot.  It's odd to say so, but the removal of the ugly sister with the cute one was an improvement, though IMO the ugly one was more interesting and the new one is very normal...and boring.

The end fight on the rooftop was pretty cool, though it really does make you realize that Starbuck makes a much better Bionic Woman.  I said it before, but the chick they have to play the lead is neither charismatic nor interesting.  Why do I care about a bartender dropout again?

The accusations about the show being derivative are also true.  I think Dark Angel did it much better, personally.

Pretty funny stuff - I agree with most of his points, but I think he missed the most important one: that Starbuck (I don't even know her name on the show, and even if I did, she'd still be Starbuck) is so much more compelling as a lead that they should drop Jamie Somers altogether, and just focus on her.  She was only in the 2nd episode very briefly but her entire storyline of being a confused "am-I-evil-or-not" kind of creature was great - the only great thing about the show.

But agree with Andreesen: the show pisses me off, but it's just barely good enough to keep me watching.  Way to just phone it in, NBC.

From: Radmobile Entered on: October 10, 2007 8:22 AM
This is just the sort of rubbish that watching the Bionic Woman encourages. I hope you're proud of yourselves.

From: NickNick Entered on: October 10, 2007 9:32 AM
Ooooooh!!!! I just had a thought. Maybe they can remake Inspecter Gadget, but make it live action and edgy.

From: Radmobile Entered on: October 10, 2007 9:53 AM
You mean like this? I wouldn't call it edgy by any means.

From: NickNick Entered on: October 10, 2007 2:04 PM
No.  I was really trying to just be corny.  And you all had to go and ruin ot for me.  OK, so maybe a better idea would be an action series about Teddy Rukspin.

From: Radmobile Entered on: October 10, 2007 2:11 PM
You mean like this? ..... Just kidding.

From: NickNick Entered on: October 10, 2007 2:54 PM
Ass.

From: Ross Entered on: October 22, 2007 4:38 PM

Well, regardless of the outcome of The Bet, I am personally calling it quits on Bionic Skank - the show is just boring.  Like I said before, I like the Starbuck storyline but the main character is just a complete and utter dud.  Furthermore, the action scenes are poorly done and try to capitalize on the current fad of herky-jerky camerawork, in this case they use it to cover up sup-par choreography.

I give it the thumbs - and my thumbs are removing it from my Tivo's to-do list.

From: Jackzilla Entered on: October 22, 2007 4:55 PM

You're right, Bert.  Bionic Woman is a major disappointment.  I still say it could be a sweet concept if it was done right.  But there's a lot wrong with it, and it's not improving.  I'm still watching it for now, though.  I'll report if it suddenly goes sweet, but right now, I just hope the ratings are good enough to keep my ass from watching Earth 2.

What is good on TV right now?  Heroes is boring too!  I want my Lost & BSG!  At least we have The Office (which is the funniest thing on TV right now) and 30 Rock (which is amusing).  Has anyone ever watched HBO's The Wire?  I've heard numerous great things about it and may give it a try.

From: Ross Entered on: October 22, 2007 9:31 PM

Yeah, I'm pretty underwhelmed by TV this season, both in terms of new and returning shows.  Tonight's Heroes was better than it has been so far this season, IMO... the bit about Parkman's dad, the "Nightmare Man" making Parkman and Petrelli fight each other was really cool.

As far as new shows go, I'm watching Chuck and Reaper (which actually have a lot in common) and they're both decent but by no means phenomenal.  Chuck has the benefit of having what I consider to be the most gorgeous woman on television as a co-star.

But overall, TV is very meh this year.

The Wire gets raves from lots of my friends, but I *ahem* acquired the first season and only got through about half of it - it was clearly very well made and very intricate, well acted and so forth, but it lacked a certain visceral component that prevented me from getting hooked on it.  I've heard it's the most realistic cop show ever.  Of course, I've had a career cop also tell me that Barney Miller is the most realistic cop show ever, too, so who knows.

From: Jackzilla Entered on: October 23, 2007 6:51 AM

I haven't watched Chuck, but Angie has and likes it.  We watched the first episode of Reaper (directed by Kevin Smith) with the Roches and had a few good laughs (the guy that plays the Devil is sweet).  But already by the 2nd and 3rd eps it seemed rather routine and wasn't as funny to me.

We just watched the first two eps of Burn Notice - about a government spy that gets cut off and ends up doing smaller PI-type work.  I heard that Bruce Campbell was in it which is what got my attention, but actually the main character is quite funny.  It's not bad (I'd recommend at least the pilot), but I don't know if the series will hold my attention either.

It's hard to compete when you've watched shows like Entourage, Rome and particularly Deadwood!

Bionic Woman update!

Last week's episode:  Not too bad!  Less stanky than usual.

Entertainment Weekly recently listed BW as one of the "5 New Shows To Watch" and also put it on their Must List for Starbuck.

Will the Writer's Strike screw me on the bet?  Rad - It's not too late we could void this one for interference...

From: NickNick Entered on: November 13, 2007 6:01 PM
I would have to interject and say that if it's the writers strike that stops the show from continuing past the agreed amount of episodes then it's not eligible and the bet is off.  The bet was concerning the show being cancelled or not picked up for further episodes.  Am I right on this?  Can I get an Amen!!

From: Bunky Entered on: November 13, 2007 6:07 PM

Jack- I don't want to burst your Bionic bubble, but being one of the "5 New Shows to Watch" this season doesn't say alot. Most of the new shows on this season are crap!

Anyhow, I am still pulling for the Bionic Stank to make it to 14 episodes. We would miss your Halo shenanigans if you were to leave us for Earth 2.

From: Radmobile Entered on: November 13, 2007 6:36 PM
What about me though?! If I lose I may have to miss out on some "fruking."  Won't someone think of the fruking?

From: Bunky Entered on: November 13, 2007 7:29 PM

You don't like "fruking" to the Six Million Dollar Man" theme song?

Steve Austin, astronaut; a man barely alive. Gentlemen, we can rebuild him........Better than he was before. Bigger, stronger, faster.

Doesn't that get you herny and ready for some "fruking"? Wink

From: Radmobile Entered on: November 14, 2007 7:19 AM
Well, I'm fairly certain it's not the ideal fruking setting. However, that would be the best way to get through them. I may have had offers to that effect should I lose the bet. Hopefully there won't be an in-depth quiz on the minute details of the show.

From: NickNick Entered on: November 14, 2007 7:29 AM

Here's how the quiz would go for Rad.

Q: So rad, tell me how the one dude jumped over the helicopter without getting sucked into the blades?

A: Well..... he jumped.... and then there was this boob, I mean balloon that he grabbed onto and he had to lick the balloon for dear life.... I mean, hold on to the balloon for dear life.  Then he rode it into ecstacy.  Wait...... aww, shit.

From: Radmobile Entered on: November 14, 2007 7:33 AM
That's too funny.  That will pretty much be what my knowledge of the show consists of.  What if I can't help making the sound effects during the fruking.  I'll have to say "nanananana"  (whatever that sound is when he jumps over a fence or something.)

From: Bunky Entered on: November 14, 2007 10:42 AM
So what you are saying is that after watching the "Six Million Dollar Man," you be the "14 Episode Fruking Guy"? I am glad that Zilla didn't pick "The Love Boat" for your punishment... I don't think anyone could fruk their way through that. Good luck with your "Six Million Dollar Times"......

From: Jackzilla Entered on: November 14, 2007 10:59 AM
Fruking to "na-na-na-na-na" sound effects would be sweet!  You may want to try it even if you don't lose the bet, Rad!

From: NickNick Entered on: November 14, 2007 1:06 PM

You could always try to impress her with your 6 million dollar penis.  I know Bunky was.

From: Bunky Entered on: November 14, 2007 5:19 PM
Wow. Do I sense six million dollar penis envy?

From: Radmobile Entered on: January 25, 2008 10:30 AM
An update on the bet: Jack and I discussed the ramifications of the writers strike more last night. There was talk of calling a truce on it and going our seperate ways but we've both decided to be men about it and stick it out. This means we may not know the outcome of the bet for quite a while yet but we will both be secure in our manhood at least.

From: Bunky Entered on: January 25, 2008 10:57 AM

Did you discuss this topic while watching Brokeback Mountain together?

From: Ross Entered on: February 21, 2008 12:15 PM

Didjall hear the news?  Bionic Woman is cancelled!  How many episodes can we claim have aired (or will air)?

From: Radmobile Entered on: February 21, 2008 12:44 PM
Uh oh Jack. I guess you better let Ange and Bunky know you're not gonna have time for fun of any sort for a while. I'll have to determine a method for making sure you've actually watched the shows now. Suggestions anyone?

From: Jackzilla Entered on: February 21, 2008 1:23 PM

FUCK!!!

I GOT FUCKED BY THE WRITER'S STRIKE!!!

NBC ORDERED 13 EPISODES AND ONLY GOT TO AIR 8 BEFORE THE STRIKE!!!

FUCK!  FUCK!  FUCKETY-FUCK THE RAD!!!

From: Bunky Entered on: February 21, 2008 2:13 PM

Yeah, you are pretty much F'd. Even they air all 13 episodes by some miracle, you are still one short...

You should probably get a jump start on your Earth 2 one man party... You could run some during the day at Rookie's for background noise....

Rad, I am actually traveling alot right now. I am in Ft. Lauderdale all next week. But it will definetly put a damper on the gaming when I return...

Who will step in for Zilla? Rad, Ross?

From: Radmobile Entered on: February 21, 2008 2:47 PM

I may have to do my part, considering I put Jack in this bind personally.  Plus that'll make it even more punishment for him, having to hear about me playing when he's not allowed.

From: Bunky Entered on: February 21, 2008 2:49 PM
If you can get your rank in team slayer higher than 13, that may push him over the edge... Zilla, it is going to be as if you are on "Chocolate Mute"....

From: Jackzilla Entered on: February 21, 2008 3:46 PM

Don't you mean "choooocalate muuuuuute!" (sung to the tune of "Chocolate Rain").

Don't get me started on the bullshit that is Halo 3 ranking.  I'm still a 13 and I've played my ass off.  I'm not so bad that I should be lower than everyone we play with!  Shit ninja!  Even my second account Funky Rhubarb has a higher ranking and that account's a revolving cast of idiots!  AAAGHHH!!!

From: Ross Entered on: February 21, 2008 4:26 PM

"Revolving Cast of Idiots" - awesome.

I'm not sure this is accurate. It certainly didn't help your case any, but the sentiment seemed to be that the show was pretty turdy. I knew this would be the case and that's why I made the bet. I understood that I might lose the bet, because let's face it, there's a lot of shit on tv. I felt like I had already won after reading early reviews of the show no matter how many episodes would air.

From: Ross Entered on: February 22, 2008 8:00 AM

Yeah Bone, in my opinion, BSG is one of the best shows that has come around in recent years.  The next (and final) season starts April 4!

WOW! Rad's kicking your ass! No more Mr. Nice Guy. He's stripped off the nice guy armor and is all about the business attire! When does the official Earth 2 screening start?

Rad, you know you got lucky!  Without the strike 5 more episodes would have definately been made and aired (that's what was ordered by NBC).  The ratings were decent, and there were already plans of a relaunch with some re-tooling next season.  But the strike F'ed me in the A!

But, I'm a man of my word.  What kind of timeline do we have for me to watch this turdfest called Earth 2: Muppets In Space?

From: Radmobile Entered on: February 22, 2008 10:51 AM
Well, I guess at least one episode a week from the time you start is reasonable. Assuming you start next, 22 episodes (I think) would put us at being done by the end of July. You can watch more some weeks and skip weeks if you want but I should think the end of July is a reasonable end date. Feel free to keep us up to date on how sweet it is on Jackassery. We'll have to start a thread called "Jack's Earth 2 progress report."

From: NickNick Entered on: February 22, 2008 11:38 AM
I think we can reasonably assume that Ang will keep a good eye on Jack and make sure he's a good boy and takes his Earth 2 medecine.

From: BigFatty Entered on: February 22, 2008 1:44 PM
Nope - Jack has to have his own thread and give an episode recap, plus add his own two cents. This is the only way to keep him honest.

From: Radmobile Entered on: February 22, 2008 1:59 PM
Yes, I agree about adding his two cents. I don't want an episode recap from some website. I want Jack's opinions on it. Things of interest, descriptions of what's good/what's turdy, that sort of thing. Doesn't have to be a ton of writing though. Just enough to make us believe he's actually watching them, and also enough to add our own color commentary.

From: Ross Entered on: February 22, 2008 2:05 PM

This is priceless!

From: BigFatty Entered on: February 22, 2008 2:11 PM
Its like Jack has to write 22 book reports. HA!

From: NickNick Entered on: February 22, 2008 2:25 PM
That's just downright cruel.

From: Creeko Entered on: February 22, 2008 2:27 PM

From: Radmobile Entered on: July 25, 2008 10:20 AM
Ok, Jack. when can we determine whether or not you have to do this thing? Is it really still in question? Were you hoping it would be forgotten about? What will it take? IS this a good enough indication? http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/showtracker/2008/04/nbc-co-chairman.html

From: Jackzilla Entered on: July 25, 2008 10:45 AM

Um... maybe it'll make it as a mid-season replacement?  Innocent

Yeah.  I don't think so either.

Alright, I'll take my punishment like a man.  Let me find/get the episodes and I'll start another topic and summarize the sweetness that is Earth 2.

Fuckers.

From: Bunky Entered on: July 25, 2008 11:19 AM
Rad, he could do a Earth 2 marathon this weekend. I have heard rumors that Jack has been left to his own devices for 5 days or so.

From: Radmobile Entered on: July 25, 2008 11:28 AM
Excellent. I look forward to hearing/reading the first episode review. By the way, sorry I didn't join y'all on Halo last night. I am trying to get the "complete the game on Legendary" achievement finally. I have only the last level yet to do. Hopefully I'll be able to finish that tonight. It's a bit harder by yourself I've discovered.

From: NickNick Entered on: July 25, 2008 11:43 AM
Wow Rad. You're a like a pitbull. You got your jaws clamped around that bet and you wouldn't let go until Jack cried uncle. Jack, I want to hear your educated opinion on the realistic animatronics used on Earth2.

Really?  My maniliness is going to be called into question by a guy that can't eat a whole hamburger but splits it with his girl?  Laughing

Fair enough!  I will begin my EARTH 2 torture soon.  First I gotta get the episodes...

Okay Rad, since we are calling manliness into question, I have noticed your disappearance from JA and XBOX since the engagement... Has he been in the store Jack?

From: Radmobile Entered on: August 8, 2008 1:54 PM
I have plans to be at the store around 5:00 today. As for xbox live, I have no excuse and deserve to have my manliness questioned. We'll see what I can manage tonight.

From: Creeko Entered on: August 8, 2008 2:00 PM

Wait just a minute!!! Dose any one know if they stopped making MDW or just stopped airing it? I ask this because they just started airing it here in Spain. Is there a chance more episodes exist beyond E8?

Keep holding out Zilla, I'll let you know if it goes beyond 8.

This of coure begs the question, were it not to go beyond 8 why on earth would they even bother running a series they know crapped out mid season?

From: Bunky Entered on: August 8, 2008 2:03 PM
We won't be on until around midnight, so it should accomodate busIness times.

From: Radmobile Entered on: August 8, 2008 2:11 PM
Don't encourage him Creeko. Jack knows he's lost. What if we have an agreement that if by some miracle it comes back within a certain allotment of time (say, anytime before next summer) I have to face a harsh punishment (open to suggestions). In the meantime Jack should start the viewings because it's no fun making bets that no one has to pay up on. I'm ready to read some sweet reviews!
