Nice to have some discussion back! Screw Facebook, the conversation killer.
1. I didn't find Captain America to be an unwatchable turd, rather it was mildly disappointing for me. My son seems to be more on your side, though, Bone, since he was begging to leave before it was over and apparently the movie has soured him on the character completely.
I am still yet to see Green Lanturd, but enjoyed X-Men First Class well enough. Thor I thought was about on par with Captain America - watchable but I don't really feel the need to watch them again anytime soon.
Expectations for next summer's Avengers are ridiculously high, though. I read that the trailer they released a couple weeks back broke records on Apple's movie trailer site.
Also I agree with Creeko for once, Scott Pilgrim was so sweet that it might have been my favorite movie from last year.
2. Walking Dead is sweet but I'm confused about why it's deviating so far from the comics. Also, the excessive verbosity, which doesn't bother me in the comics does grow tiresome for me in the show. The comics are far better, I agree with Zilla. But the show is still good.
Also SOA is super sweet and I don't understand how there's going to be another season after this one - this seems like everything's coming to a head and it should end here.
3. Are you guys playing Gears 3 these days online? I haven't fired up multiplayer once, and at this point I'm unlikely to since MW3 comes out tomorrow.
4. I have finally decided to get my arse back in shape after hardly touching a weight in years. My weight was creeping back up and I was just generally being lazy and overeating/drinking. Even though my weight wasn't absurd (please see obligatory Ross Weight chart), the lack of weightlifting meant I had less muscle and more fat to be at the same weight as before, so in a word, I was getting to be a fatty again.

Then in September a gym opened up across the street from my office, so I joined - mainly at the time to have an excuse to get out of the office during the day. But I soon started getting really into it, both cardio (the elliptical doesn't do anything, running does tons of shit) and weights-wise, as well as going on a pretty strict diet. I was making pretty good progress and my pants size went down from 34 to 32 for the first time in several years, and my weight (again, not the best metric, but it's something) went to early high school levels.
Then about 5 or 6 weeks ago, I was having a nice short-but-intense dumbell workout and in the shower afterward noticed a bulge in my groin, just above my business, on the right side. It didn't hurt so it didn't immediately occur to me that it was in fact a hernia (not so herny, as it turns out).
So, I got myself in for surgery a bit more than a week later, and this Thursday will be 4 weeks since the surgery, at which time I am "allowed" to go back to the gym to lift and run. I'm still not feeling tip-top down in that whole region so I won't be able to go full force just yet, but I'm eager to get back. My goal is to get lean enough to see all of my abs, which I realize is a tall order for an old man such as myself who's never been that lean in his whole life.
5. Red shoes are geigh.
