Lookin' good Bert!

There's starting to be way too many pics of shirtless dudes on this site for my liking.

Congratulantions. Your progress is impressive. A tan and a couple percentage points lower in the bodyfat and you could be cast as a Spartan in 300.

It was exactly a year ago that I reached my goal of 205 (down from 240lbs). Still holding steady at 205.

Anyone know how Bells is doing? He could be anywhere from 150 all the way up to 250 for all I know.

Good going, Bert!  Impressive!

Bells is about 180 and feeling the heat of competition with Bert (he doesn't want to be the sloppy one Memorial Day weekend).

I'm nearly 200 and refuse to go over.  I'm eating primal breakfasts and lunch but the evenings are a struggle some days with snacks.  I can't have ANYTHING bad in the house or I'll eat it.  So... we rarely have any treats in the house!  :\    Bells encouraged me to do deadlifts -- which I was afraid of because of my back problems -- but I've now added them to my workout routine and like 'em.

Did deadlifts today, in fact.  I've stagnated on pullups at about 20 now for a couple weeks, but I'm not complaining too much.  Actually I've plateaued on most of my lifting lately which I thought would be addressed by extra protein (240g or so a day now) but that hasn't helped.  Also I just started creatine last week so I'm hoping for a boost.  As always, I'm torn between focusing on muscle gain and fat loss, and neither one has progressed much in the past month or so, so I'm looking for something new to try.  I might adopt a ketogenic diet (high protein, low carb except for green veggies) for a while to see if I can lose the last 5-10 lbs of fat that would put me in my goal range.

20 pullups is about good enough. That's more or less all I can do or care to do anyways. I usually to one pullups workout a week using strict form and I usually do a crossfit workout that involves kipping pullups during the week.

Lately I've been following a similar workout methodology to The Outlaw Way.

Basically they work on some sort of pure strength movement like squats, or an explosive Olympic style movement like clean and jerks followed by a short (8-10 mins) crossfit style wod.

They poop on long crossfit wods like Murph (1 mile run, 100 pullups, 200 pushups, 300 squats, 1 mile run).

I've been following this style of crossfit, if not the actual wods on thier site, for a month or so and I've seen some progress in strenght and overall musculature. I'm still 208lbs now but more ripped than ever. My overall conditioning hasn't really suffered as I've set personal records in 200 meter row and 100 burpees for time.

Anyways, keep up the good work. Hopefully Bells is motivated to stay lean and not on an upward swing seduced by the pizza.
